Boston, MA

Defenseman Brent Seabrook blasted the game-winning goal in overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks prevailed over the Boston Bruins, 6-5, in Game 4 to tie the Stanley Cup Finals at two games apiece at TD Garden.

Seabrook picked up a deflected pass at the right point and delivered a shot that sailed past goaltender Tuukka Rask at 9:51 to lift the Blackhawks to a series-tying victory.

The goal was Seabrook's third in the playoffs and second in overtime. He scored in the second extra period to give the Blackhawks a series-winning victory in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Detroit Red Wings.

"One of those games," Seabrook said. "We got a few goals and they had to answer that and it just was one of those games where they got a few on the power play, and we got some bounces. It was a big game; it was nice to get a few past Tuukka."

This marked the first time a Stanley Cup Final game ended in overtime and featured more than 10 goals since the New York Islanders defeated the Vancouver Canucks, 6-5 in Game 1 in 1982.

The game was the first to finish with a 6-5 final score since the Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 1 of the 2010 Final. This also marked the first Final since 1993 to have three games go past regulation.

Michal Handzus, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marcus Kruger and Patrick Sharp also scored while Corey Crawford had 28 saves for the Blackhawks.

Patrice Bergeron had two goals while Johnny Boychuk, Milan Lucic and Rich Peverley had one apiece for the Bruins, who got 41 saves from goaltender Tuukka Rask.

After exchanging goals in the first period, the Blackhawks took a 3-1 lead behind efforts by Toews and Kane.

Lucic responded with his sixth goal of the playoffs but Kruger recorded one of his own before Bergeron scored on a power-play tally to put the Bruins within 4-3 at the break.

In the third, Bergeron tied the count at 4-4 with his ninth playoff goal but Sharp gave the Blackhawks a brief 5-4 lead at 11:19 of the third period.

However, Boychuk blasted a shot from the right point 55 seconds later to even things up anew.

Two of the three remaining contests will be played at United Center, beginning with Game 5 Saturday.
