Summer Hair Trend: Carefree Part

Among the joys of summer are longer days, popsicles and a loose, playful attitude that carries over everywhere -- from your wardrobe to your toenail polish to your hair.

And nothing says summer like hair that is a touch wild, though never unkept.

An easy way to capture summer's spirit is with a carefree part, as though you just walked out of the ocean and let your hair air-dry with the saltwater, using your fingers as your only styling tool. To recreate the look at home, brush wet hair with a wide-tooth comb post shower, then gently muss up your part from the crown forward, leaving only the first inch or two of your part viewable from your hairline back. Using the styling product of your choice -- curl creams, gels and salt spray are all natural options when it's hot out -- and let your hair air-dry. The bonus of this look is that it hides roots, so if you haven't had time to color lately, no one will know.
