Celebrity Hair Trend: Fake-out Hairstyles

A relentless lineup of red-carpet appearances often has celebs scrambling for fresh ways to reinvent their look quickly -- but without commitment -- so they can once again seamlessly transform for the next big event.

Lately, that translates to a lot of fake-out styles -- seemingly dramatic haircuts that are really just fashioned with a few bobby pins and a spritz of hairspray. Three trends in particular have been the talk of Tinseltown:

1. The faux bob.

Stars like Kerry Washington and Taylor Swift love to show off sexy shoulders with the tousled look of a faux bob that’s pinned just above the nape of the neck. Pair yours with a strapless dress, and then add a pair of beautiful chandelier earrings or a bold necklace for high-impact glamour.

2. Faux pixie.

When Gwen Stefani paired a steep side-part with a chignon twisted and hidden behind the base of her neck, it looked like she had dared to bare a pixie cut. Confidence and swagger are key to pulling off this look, which you can turn edgy with a bold burgundy lip and lots of lashes.

3. Clip-in bangs.

From peekaboo fringes to statement-making blunt bangs, stars like Kim Kardashian and Lea Michele have clipped theirs in to rock for just one night. For the most convincing result, try bangs made of human hair. That way, you can style with a blow-dryer or iron to complement the rest of your look.
