Up to a fifth of all crimes in England and Wales could be going unrecorded by police, according to a recently published UK Statistics Authority report.

According to the UK Statistics Authority -- the watchdog that oversees the publication of official data -- there is evidence that crime figures recorded by the police in England and Wales may not be reliable
