Torii Hunter Signs Two-Year, $26M Deal with Tigers

Detroit, MI
Free-agent outfielder and nine-time Gold Glove winner Torii Hunter has agreed to a two-year, $26 million deal with the Detroit Tigers, according to a baseball source.
The source added that Hunter must first pass a physical before the deal could be formally signed and officially announced.
The Tigers have not made an official announcement as they have an organizational policy of not commenting on contracts before a physical has been passed.
Minutes after Hunter's deal became public, the outfielder changed the wording on his Twitter profile from "looking for a job" to "Found a job. Headed to Motown to win that ring!"
The 37-year-old Hunter is a .277 hitter with 297 home runs and nine Gold Gloves in 14 seasons with the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels.
Despite hitting .313 with 24 doubles, 16 home runs, 92 RBIs and nine steals in 10 tries in 2012, the Angels declined to make a $13.3 million qualifying offer after his five-year, $90 million contract expired after the season.
The Tigers will add Hunter to a power-packed lineup that includes Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera, All-Star first baseman Prince Fielder and catcher-DH Victor Martinez, who missed the entire 2012 season with a knee injury.
