The Philippine embassy in Malaysaia has offered its assistance to the Malaysian authorities in finding a peaceful solution to the territorial dispute on Lahad Datu, Sabah.

According to the New Strait Times, This incident was raised by Philippine ambassador to Malaysia J. Eduardo Malaya and Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary (Deputy Minister) Jose S. Brillantes during a brief meeting with Malaysia's Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar in Lahad Datu today.

Malaya in a statement today said they were in Lahad Datu on a consular, humanitarian mission.

The Philippine government through the embassy there said in the article they wished to be of help to the local authorities in finding a peaceful solution and avoiding further bloodshed.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino has urged Filipinos in Sabah to surrender to avoid more clashes.

Last Friday, 12 members of the clan and two Malaysian police officers were killed in clashes.

The Muslim clan from the Philippines is demanding recognition as the rightful owners of Sabah province.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino is urging the Filipinos in Sabah to surrender to avoid more clashes.

According to Philippine newspaper news, he asked the group to surrender to prevent more deaths.

Last Friday, 12 members of the clan and two Malaysian police officers were killed in clashes.

The Muslim clan from the Philippines is demanding recognition as the rightful owners of Sabah province.

Malaysia threatened to take "drastic action" unless the group surrender.

The clan, which calls itself the Royal Army of Sulu, has occupied the village of Lahad Datu since early February.

On Friday, at least 12 followers of Sultan Jamalul Kiram III were killed as fighting broke out on Lahad Datu, Sabah .

Malaysia that left 12 Sulu militants and two Malaysian policemen dead, a consultant of the Armed Force of the Philippines (AFP) said Saturday.

Authorities are now beefing up the security as part of precautionary measures
